kindness to or treat them well, to put someone ahead of another." Even though God loves everyone, He favors His children. In Numbers 6:25-26 He tells His children, "May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace" (NLT). When I read this verse, I think about God smiling at me like a big yellow smiley face. In fact, every time we see a yellow smiley face, let's let it remind us that God loves and favors us! I see those almost every day! So now I will think of God and His favor over my Superkid Cadets! God makes things work out for me! One of my very favorite promises in the Bible is in Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called accord- ing to his purpose for them" (NLT). Superkid, I know this verse describes you! When someone lives their life for Jesus and His plan for them, they can have God as their partner, working things out for their best outcome! That is another way to say "favor"! This is a great word for us to stand on for our lives, for our future and our destiny but it isn't just for the someday, adult, serious things! Superkid, God wants to show you His favor, NOW! He wants you to learn to walk in it every day, in fun and silly things as well as the big things. He wants to show you that you are His everyday favorite! Let me tell you what happened to me a few months ago. I went with friends and family to a big amusement park. You know how that can be, midsummer, on a Friday, lots of crowds and usually long lines to ride the best rides. Usually. That morning we all prayed over our day, telling the Lord that we were His and we would do whatever He wanted us to do. We prayed over our protection and safety. Then we asked the Lord for His favor over us all. Well, knowing our won- derful heavenly Father, you can guess how the day turned out! We had the best day ever at an amusement park! The blessings were so evident and so many that I thought, Oh Lord, today has been so amazing! I want to do some- thing for You! We all thanked Him over and over again. Through one miracle after another, we had the most amazing day, we rarely stood in line, and we rode every ride we wanted to ride. We even rode the most popular ride in the park twice! On our second time (after just a five-minute wait ) something even more wonderful happened. The Lord let us bless Him back. He led us to a young man and woman who were ready to hear about Him. We told them about Jesus and that He loved them and they asked Him into their hearts, right in the middle of the amusement park! That was by far the best thing that happened all day! When God's favor is on us, it does more than just bless us, it causes us to GLOW, to shine His light on others. Superkid, I could go on about the favor of God for pages and pages! I pray this makes you want to start asking the Lord for His favor, AND that you will be hun- gry to know more. He will certainly show you more if you ask Him! You can start by saying this today: Father, thank You for loving me! I thank You for making me Your child. Today, I offer myself and my life to You. I ask You for favor with You and with others. I will shine today. I will GLOW with Your pres- ence, and others will want to know YOU because they see YOUR FAVOR on me. Superkid, you have favorite-kid status! Do something with it today! ® C o m m a n d e r K e ll i e ' s C o r n e r I have a secret to tell you, Superkid. It's one I learned about when I was your age: You are God's favorite! Yes, you are and so am I! Does that sound impossible? Maybe you think God can only have one favorite and it must be Jesus. You may be like my daughter, Emily. She often asks me, "Am I your favorite kid?" To which I have to answer, "All my kids are my favorite." Your parents have probably said the same thing to you if you have siblings. As a parent, I can absolutely confirm that it is possible to have as many favorites as you have kids! I am just an earthly parent, so how much more can our heavenly Father have many favorites! He is Love Himself and He sent His Son, Jesus, to make it possible for us all to be His favorite sons and daughters. Aren't you glad? I am FOREVER grateful to my Big Brother, Jesus, for making it possible for me to be a daughter of God. I asked Jesus into my heart when I was only a toddler. Jesus and I have been together a long time, but when I was your age, I learned about FAVOR WITH GOD and how to walk in it. I want to share a few truths with you about God's favor. God loves me. The Bible says so, doesn't it? "God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him" (1 John 4:9, New Living Translation). "See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!" (1 John 3:1, NLT). To even begin to receive the favor of God, you have to start by believing that He loves you. God favors me. To favor means "to like someone, to show i An outreach minister at Kenneth Copeland Ministries, she is the developer of the Superkid Academy curriculum.
