the face of Adam's perfectly formed body and
said, "Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the
sh of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over
every creeping thing that creepeth upon the
earth" (Genesis 1:26). With those words, the
breath and Spirit of God owed into Adam's
esh; ooded it with the glory, power and life
force of God Himself; and Adam came alive.
So God created man in his own image, in the
image of God created he him; male and female
created he them. And God BLESSED them, and
God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the sh of the sea, and over the
fowl of the air, and over every living thing that
moveth upon the earth (verses 27–28).
The Jewish sages note that of all the creatures
on earth, only man was made "a speaking spirit"
like God. Only man was given the gift of speech.
What did God intend for him to do with this
royal gift? The rst words Adam heard God say
made it clear: He was to be fruitful, multiply,
replenish and exercise dominion over the earth.
Just like God, who had BLESSED him, Adam
was to operate in THE BLESSING, releasing
God's life and power to create and change things
by speaking faith- lled words.
"Open to Me the Gates
of Righteousness"
Can you see now why your words matter so
much?
Not only are you living in a world that was
created and ordered by words; you came from
the same place Adam did. He came out of God,
and so did you! When you received Jesus as your
LORD, you were "born again, not of corruptible
seed, but of incorruptible, by The WORD of
God, which liveth and abideth for ever" (1 Peter
1:23). God breathed His own eternal life, glory,
power and faith into you and re-created you in
the image of Jesus.
Jesus is called "the last Adam"
(1 Corinthians 15:45). Through Him, you've
been empowered to reign in life by speaking
faith- lled words, just as the rst Adam did
