The Day of God’s Favor by Gloria Copeland I hope you don’t spend a lot of time listening to the negative news that’s being broadcast these days. It’s so filled with reports about all the bad things people are doing and the evil that’s running rampant in the world, it can make you want to shake your head in discouragement. It can make you want to say, “What kind of day are we living in?” Have you ever asked that question? I certainly have. But I’m happy to report I’ve also discovered there’s a good answer to it. An answer that comes not from the negative newscasters but from Someone a lot more trustworthy and in the know: the Lord Jesus Christ! He told us when He came to earth what kind of day it is we’re living in. He announced time and again during His earthly ministry: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19). The phrase “the acceptable year of the Lord” is identified in the "Amplified Bible, Classic Edition," as the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound. That’s the day we’re living in, right there. We’re living in the day when the salvation and free favors of God profusely abound! We’re living in the day of God’s grace when His kingdom is manifesting on earth, and all who will believe can enjoy its wonderful benefits—not just in a small measure, but profusely. Profuse is a wonderful word. According to the dictionary, it refers to “that which is given freely and in large amount, often to excess.” It means “lavish, overabounding or abundant.” It describes, in other words, the kind of life Jesus came to give us. He said in John 10:10 He came that we “might have life, and…have it more abundantly,” and we see in the Gospels that He always ministered that life to people lavishly. He never left a blind man blind or a sick person sick, when they came to Him for healing. He never left a leper with leprosy. Whenever someone was suffering under some yoke of bondage in their lives, if they would receive Him, His Anointing would always destroy that yoke and set them free. Jesus never withheld God’s BLESSING from people. He never made it hard for them to receive. On the contrary, Jesus was easy to receive from! * * * * article continues on p. 26 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Points to Get You There: This is the day when God’s free favors profusely abound! It’s the day when you can receive those favors and help bring in the last great harvest of souls. 1) Jesus announced time and again during His earthly ministry that He came to usher in the day of God’s favor.
