“I was a cancer survivor, and it didn’t seem right for things to be so hard now. When my mother was pregnant with me, the Lord told my dad that the devil was going to try and take me out. Knowing that there would be a battle for my life, my parents decided to pray like Hannah did for her child. If I was a boy, they were going to name me Samuel. If a girl, I would be Hannah. They prayed, and when I was born healthy and whole, they were relieved and thought the battle was won. “Then, when I was 3, I was diagnosed with leukemia. There was a battle for my life, and the devil tried to steal it. I was cured when I was 9 years old. Now I was an adult and I’d lost three children. I knew I was at a crossroads. I couldn’t imagine why this was happening, but I somehow knew that God loved us. Instead of becoming angry, I chose to let the situation push me even closer to God.” Plans for the Promise Hannah and her mother wondered if her childhood battle with leukemia might have anything to do with her problems carrying a baby to term. To find out, she made an appointment with a genetic counselor. He was rude and haughty, Hannah recalled. A waste of time. Afterward, Hannah made an appointment with a hematologist. Taking her problems and questions to heart, he ordered a battery of blood tests. 12 : BVOV
