Pen of a Ready Writer

Melanie Arnold stared hopelessly off into the distance, desperately wishing to hear God speak back to her, but expecting the same thing she’d received now for the past two weeks—silence.
Each day, after leaving school for her home in Duncan, Okla., Melanie had made the lone trek down the road to the end of her street, climbed a fence, and walked out into an open field and sat. Each time, she looked up to heaven with the same, sometimes tearful plea: “Lord, I don’t know what to do. I want to be a writer, but I’ve been offered a scholarship to study nursing. Please tell me what to do.”
“From seventh grade on I’d always wanted to be a writer,” Melanie recalls. “That was my dream.”
