After giving up his acting career, Mel had gone back to managing a restaurant. He was at work one day when their pastor asked him to come on staff at the church. Having stood in faith for Desiree’s miracle, ministry opportunities abounded for them.
“In 1988, Desiree and I were ordained through Oasis Church,” Mel explains. “In 1993, we were sent out to start a church. We began holding services on Friday evenings, and prophetic breakfasts in Hollywood on Saturdays. In 1996, we held our first Sunday service as In His Presence Church on Easter Sunday, and began holding weekly healing services on Wednesdays. It’s been 21 years now, and we’re still seeing blind eyes opened, tumors disappear and crippled people walking out of wheelchairs.”
Desiree has published two books, one titled "God Hunger: Breaking Addictions of Anorexia, Bulimia, and Compulsive Eating," and the other, "Beyond the Flame: A Journey from Burning Devastation to Healing Restoration."
