● I will command THE BLESSING on you in your storehouses and in everything you do, make you plenteous in goods, and prosper you at every turn. (see Deuteronomy 28:8, 11) ● I’ve made My choice to BLESS YOU. Now the choice is yours. I’ve set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. So choose to be BLESSED! (see Deuteronomy 30:19) As the Apostle Paul put it in 1 Corinthians 3:21, in Christ “all things are yours”! Everything that you will ever need or want in life beyond your wildest dreams already belongs to you as Jesus’ joint heir. But deciding how much of it you choose to receive and enjoy isn’t God’s responsibility. It’s yours. You’re the one who has to take by faith what His WORD says already belongs to you. You’re the one who has to decide what you want and believe for it…and if you neglect to do it you’re going to miss out on a lot! The Exact Amount at Exactly the Right Time I first began to discover this in the late 1960s when Gloria and I went into the ministry. We didn’t know back then everything we know now about prosperity, but we had learned enough to pay off a seemingly insurmountable mountain of debt. We were also learning to believe for the income to do what God had called us to do. One time after I’d preached a three-week series of meetings in Louisiana, we found ourselves $900 short of the budget with only one service left. Nine hundred dollars, with inflation factored in, was like $6,000 in today’s economy and to us that seemed like a fortune. We’d never received anything close to $900 in one service! So in the natural, the situation looked impossible. We’d already agreed before the meetings began, however, on the exact amount we needed to receive. We’d released our faith according to Matthew 18:19 where Jesus said, “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” So we weren’t just hoping the money would come. We saw our agreement like a signed contract with God. We’d done our part by acting on His WORD and we believed He’d do His part by bringing it to pass. Even so, all day long before that last meeting, while I was preparing to preach, the devil kept hammering at me. “These people have given hardly anything during this whole series of meetings,” he said. “What makes you think they’re going to give $900 tonight?” “I don’t think they are,” I answered. “I know they are because I have God’s WORD on it!” Hour after hour, I kept fighting the good fight of faith, resisting the devil’s pressure on my mind. When I couldn’t stand to stay in that little motel room any longer I went outside and walked around praying in the spirit and confessing The WORD of God. Since it was wintertime, no one was out there to hear me so I just kept saying out loud, “This full amount belongs to me. We believed for it when we started this meeting, and it’s coming in, glory to God!” When the devil contradicted me I’d make my confession again. “Shut up, satan!” I’d say. “You’re a liar and the father of lies. I have the words of Jesus on this. They’re written in red letters and they can’t lie, so we’re not coming up short. We have an agreement and it’s coming to pass.” After a while, I looked up to see a car pulling into the motel parking lot. When the driver saw me he started honking the horn like something was wrong. Pulling to a stop right alongside me he hollered, “Brother Copeland! I’m glad I caught you. I’ve been to every service you’ve preached here but I have an appointment tonight. I’m still going to come to the meeting but I’m going to be late and I didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to give my offering!” Then he handed me a check for $500. We didn’t have many $500 checks coming in back in those days, so that was a marvel in itself. What’s more, when the rest of the offering came in that night the total came out to be the exact amount Gloria and I had agreed on and written down three weeks earlier. We didn’t miss it by even one penny!
