From that moment on, his financial picture began to change. He was no longer hindered by the economic problems a round him because he understood it's not the world's economy that makes us, as believers, rich. It's our covenant with God! As the Scriptures say: "e blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it" (Proverbs 10:22). "Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day" (Deuteronomy 8:18). "God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8). Once Bishop O yedepo took his stand on what God says, and activated the law of faith, his ministry started prospering financially beyond what most people would think was possible. His congregation kept outgrowing church buildings. ey'd buy one, grow too big for it and then buy another. Eventually, e LORD led him to buy 500 acres out in the bush country and call it "CanaanLand." It was so far out in the wild, they had to move the monkeys and baboons out of the way to build there. Today, those first 500 acres have become a 10,000-acre city— complete with a 50,000-seat church auditorium, four banks, a kindergarten, an elementar y and high school, a university that is one of the foremost in Africa, and more. Back in 2008, when I f irst visited CanaanLand, they'd just completed phase one and the Bishop was telling me about it. "Brother Kenneth, we spent $250 million on this phase, and there's no debt and no American money in it," he said. "Phase two will also be $250 million, but we've already got that in the bank." Just think—no American money. No debt. Just faith in God. Don't try telling David Oyedepo the law of faith doesn't work the same everywhere for everyone. He's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it does! Two Covenants, Unlimited BLESSING One of the major keys to Bishop Oyedepo's success, of course, is his understanding of covenant. W hen it comes to activating the law of faith, whether you're living in Nigeria or America, you need to have a revelation that you're in covenant with God. You need to realize the Bible is not just a religious book. It's a record of t wo covenants—the Old and the New. Both of those covenants are blood-sworn oaths, which means they're as serious as covenants can be. Under the Old Covenant, God walked in the blood of animals and declared THE BLESSING—which includes every good thing promised in the Bible—over Abraham. Then He included us in that BLESSING by saying to Abraham, "So shall thy seed be" (Genesis 15:5). A lthough many Christians have been taught the promises in the Old Testament don't apply to us as believers today, Galatians 3:16, 29 says: "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ…. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." If you haven't already, you should spend some time digging around in the promises of BLESSING God spelled out in the Old Covenant. They're wonderful! ey cover every aspect of life—salvation, deliverance, provision, victory, healing, long life…and every other good thing you can imagine. " B ut B r ot h e r C o p e l a n d ," y o u might say, "if the Old Covenant is so wonderful, why do we need the New Covena nt? W hat 's t he d if ference between the two?" e difference is the blood! e New Covenant is ratified not in the blood of animals but in the blood of Jesus Christ—and His blood did for us what nothing else could. It "redeemed us from the curse" (Galatians 3:13). Just as THE BLESSING includes everything good, the curse includes e v e r y t h i n g b a d . A c c o r d i n g t o Deuteronomy 28:15-68, it includes sickness, poverty, defeat, barrenness, destruction and every other evil thing that came on mankind through sin. Under the Old Covenant, people were still in bondage to sin and they paid the penalty for it by suffering the curse. But under the New Covenant, the price for sin has been paid and the curse done away with!
