The last-days outpouring of the Holy Spirit that’s been prophesied about for many years is now in progress and it’s not going to stop. The Church—not just EMIC, but the entire Body of Christ—is stepping into the grand finale of what began in the upper room in the second chapter of Acts.
You remember what happened there, don’t you?
The Holy Ghost roared in with the sound of a rushing mighty wind. Tongues of spiritual fire engulfed the early believers and they were endued with power from on high. They hit the streets of Jerusalem, praising and glorifying God in other tongues and it caused such a stir that people on the streets were asking, “What meaneth this?” (Acts 2:12).
“This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel,” answered the Apostle Peter. “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath…” (verses 16-19).
I like how "The Amplified Bible" puts the first verse of that passage. It says that what happened at Pentecost was “the beginning” of what God promised. Now, the Church is coming into the culmination. We’re in the last of the last days. The return of Jesus is at hand and God is pouring out an unprecedented flood of Holy Ghost power to usher in His coming.
Over this past year especially, the waters of that flood have been rising and God has been encouraging all of us to jump in. He doesn’t want a single person to miss out on what He’s doing in our day. He wants every one of us to be expectant and ready to receive.
“But Gloria,” you might say, “what should I be expecting to receive?”
One of the primary things—and one of the most wonderful—is healing!
Healing has always been a hallmark of the move of the Holy Spirit in this dispensation. You can see it throughout the New Testament, starting with Jesus. When God anointed Him with the Holy Ghost and with power, healing became an inseparable part of His ministry. As Matthew 4:23-24 says, He “went about all Galilee…preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.”
