Steve McQueen was a huge movie star. His popularity during the ’60s and ’70s was unparalleled. He was “The King of Cool.” In 1974, he became the highest-paid actor in the world. He was sought after by the best directors. Little did he know at the time he was also being sought after by the Director of the Universe, Jesus Himself. An Inflated Ego Fame began to take its toll. McQueen became a “big shot” with an inflated ego and he knew it. He answered to no one. When asked if he believed in God, he said, “I believe in me. God will be No. 1 as long as I am No. 1.” However, in the midst of that fame, one director observed that McQueen was “a loner...troubled and looking for a father.” He didn’t realize his Father God was looking for him. By the late 1970s, his career was failing. He was aging and quality roles just weren’t coming his way. He felt empty and dissatisfied. He became a recluse. To fill the time, he bought an airplane and learned to fly. McQueen could tell there was something different about his instructor. One day, they finally talked and he discovered the difference was Jesus. The transformation had begun. McQueen began attending church and became a close friend of the pastor. In conversation one day, he told the pastor he had recently answered an altar call at church and made Jesus The LORD of his life. He finally found his Father. The change began and everyone was taking notice. His flight instructor called the transformation “dramatic.” A friend said it was “stunning.” McQueen was no longer chasing after fame and prestige. His greatest desire was to serve God with all his heart. Truly, this was a life transformed by the power of God. A New Man Evangelist Billy Graham was one of the last to speak to the actor before he passed away. McQueen shared his testimony. He told Graham that God had made him a new man. During the visit, he somehow had misplaced his Bible, so Graham gave him his. When McQueen went to heaven, Billy Graham’s Bible was laying open on his chest, turned to his favorite scripture: John 3:16. This testimony really touched my heart. It is a demonstration of Jesus’ love and His passion to seek and save the lost, no matter how lost they may be. According to Ephesians 2:6, Jesus raised us up together with Him in heavenly places. You could put it this way: He transformed us and increased our value. Why? Verse 7 in the "New International Version" tells us: “In order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” Keep that in mind this Christmas as you pray for loved ones who do not know Jesus. Don’t be moved by their outward appearance. Deep in their hearts, they are searching for their Father God. Even more than that, their Father is searching for them. All you need to do is trust The LORD. Pray that He will send laborers across their path to minister the good news of God’s unfailing love and grace. I believe with you right now for their salvation and transformation. Jesus was born to seek and save the lost. He is doing that with your family right now. And, if you are reading this and you have never made Jesus The LORD of your life, you can simply pray what I prayed so many years ago: “Jesus, come into my life.” Romans 10:9-10 ("New King James Version") says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Now, let’s pray this together: “Thank You, LORD, for the birth of Your Son. Thank You for sending Him to seek and save the lost. Thank You for saving me and redeeming me from the curse of sickness, lack and fear. Thank You for delivering me from the power of darkness and translating me into the Kingdom of Your love. At this Christmas season, I thank You once again for transforming my life and the lives of those around me. Amen.” V About: George Pearsons is senior pastor of Eagle Mountain International Church, located on the grounds of Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
