When was the last time you stopped to smell the roses? Before you try to answer, that was a rhetorical question. But now that I have your attention, let me be more direct. When was the last time you stopped what you were doing, and took time out to observe and appreciate the beauty of God's creation? I did that just this morning while driving to work. How awesome! From the brightness of the sun that appeared in response to His powerful demand: "Let there be light," to the oceans deep that cover the vastness of a seemingly endless expanse, to the rolling hills and the tree-lined mountains where creatures roam. It's all God's creation—fashioned by Him, and made for us. How sad it is that many are so distracted by the busyness of life that they overlook the wonders of the creation of life. In Psalm 8:3-4, New Living Translation, the psalmist wrote: "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" What are we that He should care for us? Ephesians 2:10 says, "We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…." God used the power of His words to create, then He looked at His creation and saw that "it was very good." It's the same for you and me. We are His workmanship, His masterpiece, created in His image and with His purpose—to prosper and succeed in everything we do. In His eyes, we are "very good." In his article this month, titled "Your Will, Your Choice, Your Words," Kenneth Copeland says: "God doesn't do anything without saying it. He always creates and changes things by speaking words because that's where the power is. That's where the life is." It's also where the beauty is. Take a moment to stop, look at and appreciate God's creation. Then look at yourself. You're part of His creation.
