Perhaps you can relate to an experience I had years ago while trying to find my way through one of those glass houses at the state fair. At first, I thought, Oh, this ought to be easy enough. Just a few turns here and there, and I'll be out in no time. To my surprise, no time became like an eternity as every turn I made got me seemingly nowhere closer to the exit. Instead I bumped into walls at every turn—watching myself become more and more frustrated along the way. Suddenly, what started out to be a fun venture had turned into a desperate attempt to escape. A challenge to test my navigational skills had suddenly turned into one great big ball of confusion. And, yes, for a moment, I felt fear rise inside. No longer was I facing an innocent challenge, but seemingly a threat to my survival. That's what confusion does. When we were born, we entered into a maze-like adventure filled with choices and options, detours and dead ends. Almost daily we are faced with opportunities to make the right decisions, or to choose paths we know lead nowhere. How we respond to those choices determines how successful we become in life. Choosing the wrong path is much like walking through a glass house. At every turn you see an image of yourself, but you are going nowhere. Making wise choices ensures you will eventually make the turns that lead to you successfully reaching your destination. Whenever you are faced with a decision, trust in God and let Him direct you. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you through the mazes of life so that you don't stumble, fall or get off track. After all, like the Scripture says, He will always make a way for you to escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Speaking of being directed, I hope you took my advice last month and have already locked in your destination for later this month in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. We'll be there, July 28-Aug. 2, for the annual Southwest Believers' Convention. If you've not made plans yet to join us, there's still time to register for this exciting, six-day meeting.
