If you read the article on the opposite page, then you've already discovered the power of voting, and how one man's vote literally changed the course of an entire nation. If not, please go back and read the inspiring story about a Delaware delegate to the Continental Congress and how, though critically ill, he left his sick bed and rode 80 miles by horseback to cast the deciding vote "for independence." As far back as 1776, Caesar Rodney knew and understood one of the most important responsibilities of every American citizen— especially Christians. I'm talking about participation in the voting process. Why is voting important? Because your vote matters! Years ago, Kenneth Copeland explained the responsibility the Church has in the election process: "More than 200 years after our Founding Fathers established this country, many of America's citizens still wrestle with their intent—questioning whether our nation was God-ordained. But anyone who knows God, knows He established America on purpose. A covenant was made, binding America and The LORD together. In the same way the nation of Israel has a covenant with God, the United States does, too. And just like He held every Jew responsible for how the nation of Israel responded to His prophets and His direction, God holds Christians responsible for America today." The upcoming elections on Nov. 5 are being viewed by many as crucial to our nation's future. As believers, we will play a major role in the outcome. It's not the responsibility of any particular political party. That duty rests solely on the shoulders of the Church. If we do what we are responsible to do this November, we will see things change for the good in our nation. As Brother Copeland once stated, "The condition of the world is supposed to be controlled by our prayers. The Church has been given the power to change things. When you vote in faith, in obedience to God…God will take care of you no matter who is in office or what is happening in the world!" I encourage you: Pray, listen to and obey God's voice, then go to the polls in November and VOTE. You may only have a single voice—but your voice, and your vote, MATTERS! Ronald C.
