In verses 10-11, the Lord is very plain about three things that the tithe does specifically: "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts." Notice, the first thing the tithe does is to activate the overwhelming, abundant financial supply of THE BLESSING in our lives! The second thing it does is it protects your harvest from the devourer. Praise God! The third thing we see as a result of the tithe is that your vine won’t cast its fruit before its time. In other words, the tithe insures that the seeds you have planted WILL produce a harvest. But here’s the thing: There is nothing to protect from the devourer and no harvest to insure if there has not been any seed sown. This is how the system works. Way back in Genesis 8, the Lord instituted that as a law. “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” (verse 22). When He was on the earth Jesus said that the whole kingdom of God operates this way, and taught His disciples about its operation extensively. Jesus made it very clear that this law applies not only to actual crops such as corn, wheat or grapes. His disciples were not farmers. Mark 10:29-30 says, “And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” So this law of sowing and reaping also applies to houses, family, lands—and money! How do we know it applies to money? Because Galatians 6:7 tells us, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” And money is a “whatsoever.” These laws of our kingdom are exactly why the Holy Ghost, through the Apostle Paul, made a point of telling us that all our needs are supplied, not by this world’s system, but by His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19), and that they will produce in our lives! Second Corinthians 9:8-11 ("AMPC") is our proof: "And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]. As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever! And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God."
