Editor’s Letter Thanksgiving Every Day! It’s November. Later this month, all across the United States, families will come together to celebrate Thanksgiving Day—the one day each year we celebrate our harvest and other blessings of the past year. Usually, the focus is on enjoying delicious big meals, football games, festive parades, and the fellowship and fun of being together. Beyond a few words spoken over the bountiful meal before dinner, rarely do we take the time to really think about and express our thanks to God for His goodness and mercy toward us. The truth is, the more we think about God and His goodness, the more we understand the importance of staying in a thankful mode—constantly thanking God for His love, grace, mercy and kindness. First Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” At times it may seem difficult to be grateful and give thanks, especially in times like we’ve experienced over the past year. But if you’ll examine that scripture closely, you’ll see that God is not asking us to be thankful for the difficult times in our lives. He says to be thankful in everything. Giving thanks should be an everyday thing. It’s how God wants us to live—all the time! This year, how about flipping the script? Don’t wait for Thanksgiving Day to show your appreciation to God for His goodness. While you’re planning to celebrate November 25 with family and friends, take time—beginning today—and give thanks to God in everything. Remember the different ways He’s blessed you—including the people in your life, your job, your health—and every way He has helped and kept you and your family. Then, thank Him for them! Speaking of being thankful, do you know you have an angel with you all the time? Brother Copeland asks that question in this month’s article “When Angels Show Up,” and encourages us to believe that our angel’s assignment is to help us fulfill the call of God on our lives. Make sure you give your angel something to work with by speaking faith-filled words, and spending plenty of time praising and worshipping God—every day! Enjoy a blessed Thanksgiving! Ronald C.
