Believing the Promises
by Gloria Copeland
“Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed.” (Romans 4:16)
Whether you need healing, protection, prosperity or any other blessing God has promised, it takes faith to receive it. It takes making God’s Word final authority in your life. The "Amplified Bible, Classic Edition," says, “Therefore, [inheriting] the promise is the outcome of faith and depends [entirely] on faith…” (Romans 4:16). As you release your faith, it allows grace—God’s unmerited favor—to flow to you.
But if you don’t put the Word first, if you instead hold on to traditions of men, you won’t be in a position to receive from God. The Bible says traditions make the Word of God of no effect (Matthew 15:6). They shut off the grace of God because there’s no faith in them.
