Editor’s Letter Peace, Be Still Living in Texas, I’ve become used to the threats of tornadoes and hurricanes, and their potential to cause destruction and death. What is unfamiliar to me, though, is hearing a meteorologist describe a hurricane as “unsurvivable.” Just the sound of that word might strike fear—even in the hearts of people with strong faith in God. To say “unsurvivable” suggests impending doom. Death. No way out. That no matter what defense one puts up, the reality is that there is no way of escape. There’s nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide! Those were my thoughts back in August as meteorologists were saying Hurricane Laura, a potentially devastating storm barreling toward the coasts of Texas and Louisiana, would bring with it an “unsurvivable storm surge.” Watching the weather reports, I thought about Jesus in a boat with His disciples. With a fierce storm raging around them, these men feared for their lives. They woke Jesus from His nap and asked, “Don’t You care that we’re going to drown?” Turning to the storm, Jesus spoke only three words: “Peace, be still.” Immediately, the Bible says, “The wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39). Then Jesus asked His disciples a couple of questions: “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” For nearly a year now, around the world we’ve had our peace interrupted—disturbed by an unprecedented coronavirus pandemic. Here in the U.S. we’ve also struggled with racial unrest, rioting, economic hardship and division spurred by a contentious political election. Unsurvivable? No, I don’t believe so. Not in Texas, or anywhere else in the U.S. or around the world, for that matter. Not when Jesus has said, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” And especially not when we, by faith in God’s Word, can boldly speak to the storms that threaten our lives and say, “In the Name of Jesus, peace, be still!” Don’t be afraid; be encouraged. We will survive! Remember, Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Let your voice be heard. Get out there and VOTE—because your vote really does matter! Ronald C. Give it to everyone who ever responds to your ministry, and don’t ever allow anyone to pay for a subscription to it. For 47 years it has been our joy to bring you good news through the teachings of ministers who write out of living contact with God, and the testimonies of believers who took God at His WORD and experienced His victory in everyday life. —Kenneth & Gloria Copeland _________________ "Believer’s Voice of Victory" is published monthly by Eagle Mountain International Church Inc./Kenneth Copeland Ministries, a nonprofit corporation, Fort Worth, Texas. © 2020 Eagle Mountain International Church Inc. aka Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
