Editor’s Letter Take Time To Rest! When was the last time you rested? By that, I mean shut off everything—from social media and TV reruns, to your smartphone—and spent time in God’s presence? This occurred to me recently while trying to grab some much-needed time alone with the Lord. It wasn’t easy. My thoughts kept running back and forth, mainly over things I needed to do and adjustments I’d have to make due to being locked away from the outside world because of the coronavirus. It would seem to be the perfect opportunity for rest. But not if you can’t focus on God because you’re too busy being concerned over what’s happening around you. I believe that’s why Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest. Amid the busyness of life, He desires to bring us into a peaceful place of rest where our focus is on Him and not our problems. He says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” ("New Living Translation"). It’s been over six months since the onset of COVID-19 with, according to media reports, no end in sight. Regardless, rest IS in sight—and it’s within reach! We must not allow the cares of this world to come between us and our fellowship with the One who gives us rest. Speaking of rest, you’ll find it in this issue as you read inspiring articles by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland on The Power of Simple Faith and Victory That Overcomes the World, and another by Pastor Mark Barclay, who encourages us to Be Vigilant! and reminds us we are supernatural, well-equipped, spiritual soldiers of the Cross—who win!
