Editor's Letter The New Norm That’s how some are describing the life we’re required to live today because of the coronavirus pandemic. Because of COVID-19, our nation was introduced to a different lifestyle which, until recently, did not include such phrases as “stay at home,” “social distancing,” “shelter in place,” and, for students across the country, “distance learning.” For most of the country, we left our workplaces and were sent home to work. But while COVID-19 has had a major impact on our lives over the past several months, tragically including many deaths, we’ve witnessed something else taking place. As a nation, people have become more united; reaching out with compassion and coming together to help one another. We have acknowledged a norm that, though it has always existed, we overlooked: We’re all in this together! I believe that’s what God intended when He said in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us” ("New Living Translation"). He planned for all mankind to show the same love and compassion He does. Jesus said in Mark 12:29-31, “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” This space is intended to introduce this issue’s content. With that in mind, I encourage you to take time to read every article. You’ll discover not only that, as a believer, you are God’s special treasure, but that faith in His Word will enable you to triumph over life’s challenges. I especially urge you to read Brother Copeland’s article titled “We Hold the Keys” [page 22]. With the upcoming elections, it’s important that we be serious about the state of our nation; that we recognize our responsibility as believers and not let the affairs of life keep us away from the voting booth. As Christians, we must unite and prevent the wicked spirits in high places from taking authority. The key is prayer and involvement. Voting is the responsibility of every believer. That should really be our new norm, because we ARE all in this together! Ronald C.
