“My business was small, but in 2003 there was a job I hoped to get. I was up against some giant companies,” Jim recalled. “One day Christa said, ‘God wants to know if He gives you that job, will you give KCM 10% of what you make off of it?’ “We’d been giving to KCM since 1984, and I didn’t have any trouble with giving more. I just said, ‘Yes, I will.’ But I didn’t get the job. A couple of weeks later, the guy who owned the company called a meeting and asked if I would attend. The room was filled with brilliant minds, including graduates of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They wanted to drill some wells and had their math on the board. I sat in the back of the room listening. “Finally, I walked to the front of the room and said, ‘You can’t do this. It won’t work.’ Their math was wrong. It saved them millions of dollars. Before long, my company had their business. We still do to this day.” A New Assignment While Jim advanced in his profession, Christa was being promoted as well. A local television station offered her a TV show. A very private person, she wasn’t going to do it. Then, one day she was watching the broadcast when Kenneth Copeland looked at the camera. “Some of you out there have been asked to go on TV,” he said. “And you need to do it.” Immediately, Christa decided to accept the challenge. When the movie "The Passion of the Christ" was released, she was standing outside the theater interviewing people before they went in and after they came out. They were changed. She led some to the Lord right there, on camera. Later, she was asked to provide scriptural counseling to members of a large church. She did that for more than six years. Driving home one night in 2009, the Lord spoke: 'You have a new assignment. I need you to take care of Jim. Make sure he’s healthy.' “What I do is called rheology,” Jim explains. “It deals with the chemicals in the mud that’s pumped down a well to the bit. It keeps the gas down. It also keeps the hole the same size, even when drilling down to 20,000 feet and with a change in direction. “We have a lot of shale here in the U.S., but most companies make their mud out of water and other chemicals which swells the shale. They might have quit drilling shale, except for what God did. “In 2009, I developed a formula for oil-base mud. I was one of the first chemical companies that pioneered oil-base mud to drill horizontal gas wells in the Eagle Ford Shale. In 2009, I proved that oil-base mud will not swell shale. The technology spread and just took over the industry. “I’ve been to Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and all over this country. I’ve been to Kuwait and 17 other countries. It changed things in this country, which is why we’re not dependent on Saudi Arabia for oil now. It’s one of the reasons that this country is so prosperous.” Jim Tomlin was 54 when he died and had an encounter with Jesus. Today, almost 20 years later, he’s 74 and in excellent health. Jim and Christa believe the attack on Jim’s life was an attempt to stop the discovery that he would make in 2009. It’s also the reason the Lord pulled Christa away from her other obligations to pray and intercede with a special emphasis on her husband’s health and safety in 2009. “Partnering with KCM for all these years has been a spiritual and financial blessing,” Jim says. “It works for us financially, and they’ve been our faith support. I met Kenneth about a year ago and we became friends. About three months ago, I sent him a letter and told him my story. He called me and said, ‘Jim, you need to tell your story.’” V * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Join Jim and Christa in teaching believers HOW TO USE THEIR FAITH. kcm.org/partnernow * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Get your free magazine DIGITAL + BONUS content magazine.kcm.org PRINT | kcm.org/magazine-signup 1-800-600-7395 (U.S. only) SPANISH EDITION | es.kcm.org/LVVC * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * MAY Read Through the Bible Old Testament / New Testament Fri 1 Ruth 1-4 / John 20 Sat 2 1 Sam. 1-3 Sun 3 Ps. 56-59; Prov. 11:24-12:11 Mon 4 1 Sam. 4-7 / John 21 Tue 5 1 Sam. 8-10 / Acts 1 Wed 6 1 Sam. 11-13 / Acts 2 Thu 7 1 Sam. 14 / Acts 3 Fri 8 1 Sam. 15-16 / Acts 4 Sat 9 1 Sam. 17 Sun 10 Ps. 60-63; Prov. 12:12-28 Mon 11 1 Sam. 18-19 / Acts 5 Tue 12 1 Sam. 20-21 / Acts 6 Wed 13 1 Sam. 22 / Acts 7 Thu 14 1 Sam. 23-24 / Acts 8 Fri 15 1 Sam. 25-26 / Acts 9 Sat 16 1 Sam. 27-29 Sun 17 Ps. 64-67; Prov. 13 Mon 18 1 Sam. 30-31 / Acts 10 Tue 19 2 Sam. 1-3 / Acts 11 Wed 20 2 Sam. 4-6 / Acts 12 Thu 21 2 Sam. 7-10 / Acts 13 Fri 22 2 Sam. 11-13 / Acts 14 Sat 23 2 Sam. 14-15 Sun 24 Ps. 68; Prov. 14:1-14 Mon 25 2 Sam. 16-17 / Acts 15 Tue 26 2 Sam. 18-20 / Acts 16 Wed 27 2 Sam. 21-22 / Acts 17 Thu 28 2 Sam. 23-24 / Acts 18 Fri 29 1 Kgs. 1 / Acts 19 Sat 30 1 Kgs. 2 Sun 31 Ps. 69-70; Prov. 14:15-35 ******************************************* 18 : BVOV
