I don’t either, but I’ll do it if that’s what Jesus needs me to do, because I’m a soldier in the army of The LORD. I am His to command. A soldier in the United States Army can’t just decide to go someplace else because he doesn’t like the base where he’s been stationed. If he’s stationed in Iraq he can’t just say to his commander, “This place is too hot. The barracks aren’t air conditioned. I’m going to go over to our base in Hawaii and serve over there.” No, that’s not going to happen! If it did, when Private Stupid showed up with his duffle at the base in Hawaii, they’d lock him up. They’d say, “We have you down as AWOL. You’re going to the stockade, brother.” If he asked why he couldn’t just serve in Hawaii, he’d be told, “You’re not needed in Hawaii. If you were, that’s where you would have been sent.” As silly as that illustration might sound, this is a major problem in the Body of Christ. Believers have gotten the idea they can just go wherever they want and do whatever they want. They think they can make their own plans and then just ask God to BLESS them. But that’s not what being completely dependent on Jesus looks like! When we put ourselves under His command, we make ourselves available to Him to do His will and only His will. To obey His orders and go anywhere He sends us. “But He’s liable to send me to Timbuktu!” So? Have you ever been to Timbuktu? “No.” Then how do you know you won’t like it? Even if it doesn’t fit your preconceived ideas of what would make you happy, if Timbuktu is where you’re supposed to be, you’ll ultimately be glad you went. You’ll be BLESSED because you’ll be in your grace place. That doesn’t mean the devil won’t attack you there, of course. He’ll attack you anywhere you go on this earth. The difference is, when you’re in your place, you have the grace to win. When you’re not, you’re in trouble. If satan finds out you’ve gotten out of God’s will he’ll sue you in the courts of heaven. He’ll accuse you before the Righteous Judge, and because you’re in disobedience to God and haven’t repented, Jesus won’t be able to defend you. You’ll be on the losing side of the lawsuit, because Jesus told you where to be and you decided to go somewhere else. BVOV : 7
