What does it mean to live in THE BLESSING?
It means living in abundance in every area of life. It means instead of our bank account being empty and our bills overdue, we have more than enough so that all our own needs are met, and we can give generously to others. We can be a BLESSING to someone else and concentrate on something higher than just being able to survive.
Back when Ken and I were first born again, we could hardly fathom that kind of life. Struggling along on an income that was below the poverty level and drowning in debt, we practically had to fast and pray just to buy groceries. Unable to be much help to anyone else, we needed a miracle from God just to make it through the month ourselves.
God is a good Father, so He got us through those days, of course. He understood we were just getting started in our walk with Him and met us right where we were. But it wasn’t His will for us to stay in that place.
He has never wanted that for any of His children. He’s always wanted His people to be BLESSED!
Even before Jesus came, God said to the Israelites, “Prove me now herewith…if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:10). Even under the Old Covenant, He said to those who honored Him, “Your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (Proverbs 3:10, "New King James Version").
Our God is a God of abundance! He had it for Israel. He’s got it for the Church. And He has it in heaven.
Heaven isn’t just barely getting by. The streets up there are gold. The fences are made of jewels. Heaven has more riches and resources than this world has ever seen, and God doesn’t intend for us to wait until we get there to tap into them. His desire is for us to enjoy “days of heaven upon the earth” (Deuteronomy 11:21).
What does it take to do that?
Faith.
