“Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household” (verse 9). They went and told the city of Samaria. And God’s promise of “this time tomorrow” came to pass. It was the due season God had ordained. Prepare for Your Harvest Of course, if we believe God is going to bring us a harvest—soon or in due time—then we need to act like it. Faith without corresponding actions is void of power. I learned this back in 1975. At the time, I was turning down invitations to speak around the country because the only mode of transport at my disposal was my car. I was standing in faith for a plane, or so I thought, when the Lord asked me, 'Do you really believe you have an airplane?' The question gave me pause. “Yes, I do,” I said. 'Then why aren’t you acting like it?' I didn’t understand. “Lord, how does one act like he has an airplane? Should I go stand out on the runway?” 'Well, you could accept more of the invitations that you’ve been turning down,' He said. So, I told the man who handled my scheduling to accept every invitation that came into the office. I told him to book my schedule so tight that there was no way I could make it by driving. I expected an airplane to show up that very night, but it didn’t. In order to keep my commitments, I had to fly out of a small airport in Dallas and land as close to my speaking engagements as possible. Then I rented a car to drive the rest of the way. It was a brutal schedule. I’d come home at 2 a.m., kiss my wife, kiss my daughters, drop off one suitcase, pick up another, and head out the door just to make all the meetings. I finally went back to the Lord about it. “Lord, You told me I needed to act like I had an airplane. I did that. Where’s the airplane?” He answered my question with one of His own: 'Son, where are you going to keep it?' “I’m going to keep it at the airport,” I said. 'Do you have a hangar?' I didn’t. 'I thought you said you believed you had an airplane.' I tried arguing with Him about it. “I’m waiting for the airplane to manifest,” I told Him. 'I thought you said you had an airplane,' He repeated. Clearly, I was losing that argument. So, I went to a local airport to rent a hangar. I filled out an application with my name, the name of my ministry, my address and my phone number. I left the spaces for the aircraft type and N-Number blank. When the rental manager asked me about it, I told him I’d answered all I could. He asked, “Do you own a plane?” “Oh yeah, I own it,” I said. That rental manager told me there was a waiting list and to come back when I knew what kind of plane I had. But I didn’t give up. I told him that renting a hangar for my plane was God’s plan. I read him scriptures and told him I needed a hangar that day. I couldn’t wait. In the end, he gave me his hangar. Within two weeks, my first airplane manifested—debt free. Don’t Ever Give Up When Paul said, “if we faint not,” he meant, “Don’t ever give up.” I’ve become an expert in standing for my harvests. I like to say, “My name is Jerry ‘Having Done All To Stand, Stand’ Savelle.” That’s how everything has worked for me. Sometimes I only had to stand for a few hours. Sometimes it took all day. Sometimes weeks. Sometimes months. Sometimes even 20 years. James 5:7-8 says we’re to be like the farmer who waits for a seed to germinate and grow until the harvest time comes. The farmer must be patient even though he knows in advance when harvest time is going to come. He can’t go out there the day after he’s sown his seed and say, “This stuff doesn’t work,” dig it up and never attempt farming again. He has to be patient. Sometimes you have to be willing to stand in faith, even when things look hopeless, just like the people of Samaria did. If you’re that unique individual who has always believed God for everything and received it after only a few moments, then the wrong person is writing this article. It should be you! But, that’s not the way it works. You have to wait, remain patient, stay in faith, not give up and, having done all to stand, stand—knowing that the Lord is going to keep His Word every time.
