Realizing his mistake, the king took the commander of his army and went to find Isaac. “Could we get you to come back, sir?” they said. “We can plainly see that the Lord is with you. So we decided we should have a treaty, a covenant between us” (Genesis 26:28, "NLT"-96). Isaac agreed, and they had a covenant party. They entered into a peace agreement, and while the ceremony was taking place Isaac's servants came and told him they had dug yet another well. “Boss, it’s a gusher!” they said. And with that, God confirmed to everyone there that Isaac was their connection to THE BLESSING. God essentially announced to them, “This is My man and I’ve BLESSED him again!” Abraham, Isaac, Jesus and You “But Brother Copeland, that was Isaac! You can’t be saying that what God did for him, He will do for us, as believers!” Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying because it’s what the New Testament says. Galatians 3:29 tells us that because we are Christ's we are “Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Verses 13-14 say that Christ has redeemed us from the curse and that through Him “THE BLESSING of Abraham” has come on us. THE BLESSING of Abraham is extremely powerful. It started out as THE BLESSING of Adam. It’s the creative power and dominion God bestowed on man when He said to him, “Be fruitful, and multiply...and subdue [the earth]” (Genesis 1:28). Adam sinned and blew off that BLESSING, but God reinstated it by giving it to Noah and his sons. From there, it came right on down the line to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph…and eventually to Jesus. Everything Jesus did in His earthly ministry, He did as a prophet under the Abrahamic Covenant. He never stepped outside that covenant. Even though He was God manifested in the flesh, He didn’t operate in His divinity, He ministered as the Son of Man operating in the power of THE BLESSING. And just as it did for Abraham and Isaac, THE BLESSING made Him rich. Forget what you’ve heard about Jesus being poor when He came to earth. He wasn’t born in a manger because His family was poor. His father Joseph was a businessman. He’d traveled with Mary to Bethlehem so they could pay their taxes. (Poor people don’t pay taxes!) When they arrived, they had to spend the night in a stable, not because they didn’t have any money but because all the hotels were full. What’s more, shortly after Jesus’ birth, some wealthy men from the East came to honor him. Having heard that He was the King of the Jews, they brought gifts for Him that were worth a fortune. So, even as a child, Jesus was financially BLESSED! After He grew up and went into the ministry, His resources increased to the point He needed a treasurer. (A man who’s broke doesn’t need a treasurer!) He also owned a sizeable house, gave extravagantly to the poor, and financially supported His entire ministry team. Jesus didn’t become poor until He went to the cross! That’s where He took on Himself the curse of poverty. On Calvary, He became poor willingly, for our sake, so that we could be set free from that curse and become joint heirs with Him of THE BLESSING: “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). * * * * article concludes on p. 8 * * * * * ********* ADVERTISEMENT ********** 2018 events Teaching You How to Use Your Faith Charlotte Victory Campaign Sept. 20-22 / Charlotte, N.C.
